MEAL KITS: Martha & Marley Spoon

I recently started using a Meal Kit service.  Martha & Marley Spoon seemed to have recipes that my family would enjoy.  Not to mention, you can't go wrong with Martha Stewart!  The recipes are Martha's, which makes it even more special.  The meal kit is shipped in a box with ice packs to last up to 30 hours.

The ingredients are sorted by recipe, and enclosed in a labeled bag.  Meat and other perishable items are at the bottom, underneath ice packs.

You will receive these gorgeous recipe cards, with complete instructions.
I felt like they were easy to follow.

I have learned new cooking techniques that I've never tried before.  The recipes are so flavorful that it's unbelievable.  My family loves the meals, and asks what we are having for dinner daily now.  Even my picky 9-year old daughter, says that Martha & Marley Spoon's burgers are way better than mine.  I'm impressed with dishes that have pan juices, and spices.  It really livens up the dish.

We are really impressed with this service.  All of the food was fantastic!  Looking forward to ordering more boxes in the future.

BEFORE: Starting the Journey

I am posting my BEFORE photo.  I have struggled with weight loss for at least 10+ years, especially after the birth of my daughter at the age of 37.  I lost weight, then gained even more back.

In March 2017, I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.  It was overwhelming!!!  Luckily, my dr's office referred me to a department who guided me through the process.  The coaches were really supportive, and gave me a lot of useful information.

Start weight: 262.8 @ home (264 @ dr's office)

Weight now: 238.6 (down 24.2)-since March 24, 2017

I am definately not perfect, but try to follow a lower carb plan daily.  Last week, I walked 3 days for 30 minutes.

Look for more posts and photos outlining progress in the upcoming months.

MEAL PREP ESSENTIALS: Rubbermaid TakeAlongs

A friend posted how she did her meal prep using Rubbermaid Take Along containers.  It looked like a splendid idea, so off to Dollar General I went.  The containers have divided sections, and are BPA free.  I bought 2 packs to use for lunch, and afternoon snack.  Going  back to buy 2 more packs for breakfast, and morning snacks.  This will ensure that meals for an entire day are prepped.

This product is $2.50 at Dollar General, but you can probably find them at most stores (Walmart, etc).

I went to the fridge this morning, and pulled out lunch.  It was so easy!
